Small, fast and out of your way. Miut lives in the tray and stays there until you need it.
Auto-mute after silence
Forgot to mute after the meeting? Miut mutes for you once you've been quiet for a while, from 30 seconds to 30 minutes, with a live meter to calibrate it.
On-screen indicator
A small always-on-top badge that glows while you talk. Show it all the time, or only while you're muted.
A tray icon you can trust
Green when live, red when muted, and it stays right even if you mute from Windows settings or another app.
Mute every mic at once
Headset, webcam and desk mic: one press silences all of them, so nothing slips through.
Sound cues
A short chime confirms every mute and unmute, so you don't have to look. Use the built-in sounds or your own.
Per-app mixer
Adjust each app's volume with live level meters, and see exactly which apps are listening to your microphone.
Discord status
Optionally show a "Muted" status on your Discord profile, with your own message, while your mic is off.

Add the Miut action to any Stream Deck key. It toggles your mic instantly and the key always shows the real state: red when muted, green when live.

Install
Run the installer. Miut starts in the system tray and launches quietly with Windows.

Open Settings and press the key combo you want. Spare keys like F13–F24 or mouse buttons mapped to them work great.

Questions
Is Miut free?
Yes. Miut is free to download and use, with no account and no ads.
Does Miut record or upload my audio?
No. Miut only measures your input level, and only on your PC, to drive the level meters and auto-mute. Audio is never stored or sent anywhere. Anonymous feature-usage statistics can be turned off in Settings.
How is this different from Discord's mute button?
Discord's mute only affects Discord. Miut mutes the microphone itself in Windows, so every app hears silence at once: calls, recordings, streams and games. Discord's own mute icon won't change, because from Discord's point of view your mic is simply silent.
Windows says "Windows protected your PC". Is it safe?
That SmartScreen message appears for new apps that haven't built up a download reputation yet. Click More info → Run anyway to continue. Always download Miut from this site or its official releases page on GitHub.
Does it work on macOS or Linux?
Not yet. Miut currently supports Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit).
How do I update?
Miut checks for new versions when it starts and lets you know. You can also check from Settings → Updates, or download the latest installer here at any time. Your settings are kept.
